"A true hero is not measured by the size of his strength, but by the strength of his heart." - Hercules
Time is valuable, especially for you Dad. Time is the equivalence of a life time. Six plus years with this atrocious tumor, four grueling surgeries, endless hours of recovery, and a continuous victim to this sickness over and over again. And all you have to show for is your strength.
You are silently fighting one day at a time for your life, and yet, you never complain. Insulin shots twice a day, a handful of pills three times a day and not one complaint. And when people ask you how you’re doing, your answer never changes, “I’m doing better, just taking it one day at a time. I'll be back at work in no time.” I believe that’s the only way to deal with it. Being negative towards a negative situation will never get you anywhere.
And I’m afraid to ask sometimes. What if your answer changes? Is that your faith walking out on you? So, I rather not ask. And throughout this journey you’ve taught me so much: Patience, courage, and endless amount of hope and faith. And when times get even harder for you, you have your strong will to carry you on. Alike Hercules, you're my hero in so many different ways.
Years may come and go, a life time perhaps, but you'll always be my Daddy. I love you. Don’t ever give up on us. Peace.
